Does a Metal Roof Cost More Than a “Typical” Roof?

It depends on what you mean by “typical” roof. A metal roof will often be approximately twice the price of an asphalt shingle roof but much less expensive than a slate roof. Metal roofing is roughly the same cost as tile or cedar shake roofing. However, metal roofs are highly durable, and you may not ever have to replace the roof again. In addition, it saves money on energy bills and adds to the resale value of a home.
