Can I Get Ventilation Through My Roof?

Categories: Roof Maintenance

ventilation services frisco, texasOne aspect of roofing that many people seem to ignore is the ventilation. Ventilation plays a critical role in keeping your home energy-efficient, low humidity, and extends the life of your roof. Ventilation must be installed on your roof to give you the optimal amount of air circulation that can keep your house at the perfect temperature. One question we routinely get is if a customer can get ventilation through the roof? Without the proper installation of ventilation, very little air can be passed through the roof.

Benefits of Sufficient Ventilation

There is a multitude of advantages to having proper ventilation installed on your roof. As we stated before, your house will remain at a much better temperature year-round with ventilation. This allows your heating and cooling system to work much more efficiently. If your HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard, it uses up less energy, giving you monthly savings on your utility bills. A roof that can breathe also has a longer lifespan that one that is improperly ventilated. As you can see, ventilation is an important aspect of proper roofing.

Symptoms of Improper Ventilation

There are a few key indications that may become apparent if you do not have the adequate amount of ventilation on your roof. Here are just a few symptoms of insufficient roofing ventilation:

  • Your roof is more than 25 degrees warmer than the rest of your home
  • The wood in your attic sweats or starts to bloat
  • You notice a musty smell in your attic
  • Much higher utility bills than you would expect

If you notice any of the above, you need to call a roofing professional to assess your roofing ventilation. Many of these issues can be solved by increasing air flow back through your roof.
