Why Gutter Cleaning Is a Priority
Most of us love big trees. Some of us even go so crazy and spend more on our property simply because it has the same type of tall trees we grew up with. They make our homes look beautiful and provide wonderful shade…and leaves! Unfortunately, leaves are not a friend for your rain gutters. The hail storms and angry winds in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston blow leaves and branches from trees. I’m convinced they actually aim for my gutters.
The result of too many leaves in your gutters is a clogged gutter system. When they get clogged, the rain has nowhere to go other than right over the gutters…and straight into your foundation and landscaping. No one wants this because eventually the standing water can turn into other problems like growing mold and breeding mosquitoes. (And, please don’t, we already have enough mosquitos in Texas!) In extreme cases the water can back-up onto your roof and cause damage to the roof requiring roof repairs.
There’s three approaches to solving gutter clogs:
-
- Get the ladder out and DIY at least a few times of year. You’ll need remove the leaves, twigs, branches, and the random balls and toys your kids have managed to get stuck since the last time you did gutter cleaning.
- Install leaf covers (also called gutter guards) to minimize your gutter cleaning frequency. They significantly reduce the amount of maintenance needed.
- Hire Peak Roofing & Construction. Not only does it get taken care of with one call, our professionals also inspect your gutters on each visit so we can make minor repairs before they become major ones.
Spring is here and there’s a good chance the leaves from last fall are sitting there waiting to form a clog. Call and us and schedule your gutter cleaning today.
