What Can I Do About Mildew On My Roof?
What Can I Do About Mildew On My Roof?
Roof mildew is a common issue caused by moisture and spores in the air. In same cases, algae and mold can look like black shingles on your roof. If you’re struggling with roof mildew, you can make a simple cleaning solution by combining one gallon of bleach, one cup of trisodium phosphate (TSP) and five gallons of water. While you let the mixture set for thirty minutes, cover nearby plants to protect them from runoff. Pour the mixture into a sprayer and wash down your shingles. Do not use a pressure washer, as the high pressure will damage your shingles. For best results, clean your roof on a dry, cloudy day.
