Hint: It’s for commercial roofing projects

You may be wondering what it is, I’ll tell you this, it is going to help our roofing crews accomplish more, a lot faster. And for a gadget guy like myself, it’s almost as cool as our gutter trucks.

Just for fun, here’s what it’s not:

• A new-fangled bed rail for keeping kids from climbing into your bed.
• The funkiest, double-wide moving dolly you’ve ever seen.
• An over-the-top paper cutter for every school project ever assigned.

The truth told

Part of our commitment to quality is having the right equipment so we can provide quality service to our clients. This, combined with March being my birthday month and Joey saying I could pick out my own present, resulted in the company purchasing this wonderful gadget.

It’s the Van Mark Metal Master® 20. This cool machinery is a portable brake system designed for bending aluminum siding, windows, door, and trim. However, our plan is to use it on our commercial roofing projects. Not only will it let us create our own custom flashings and chimney caps, but the Metal Master 20 also gives us the ability to create various types of copings even for extra wide parapets.

By being able to create custom fabricating fittings on-site, we can ensure they fit the specifications at the worksite. Instead of taking measurements, making the cuts at the shop, and hoping they fit once back on the site, we can now fabricate and install them immediately.

More about the Metal Master 20

The metal brake is the largest portable brake system available. Because of its size, we can create more sizes and types of metal flashings. It also gives us a great variety of things we can create onsite instead of having to wait and have them manufactured elsewhere. For example, we can do a simple flashing or a complex outside corner post.
