Peak Exterior Upgrades: Winter Fence Installation

Categories: Fences

Installing fences in winter is definitely doable. There’s simply not a bad time in the Dallas – Fort Worth area to install a fence. Unless the ground is frozen hard, which hasn’t happened in Denton or Collin counties in the past few years, you should have no problem with a winter fence installation. Installing your new fence during the months of January and February means it will be ready to go for springtime. If the new fence is part of a bigger plan to build a beautiful backyard oasis, then having your hardscape done in the winter is ideal.

Why build a fence in the winter?

One of the main reasons is to protect existing landscaping. If you plan to have your fence near existing trees or shrubs then winter installation is the perfect time. Most trees, shrubs, and plants go dormant during the winter months, even in Texas. Working near them while they are dormant can minimize the damage done to your plantings. Also, if the vegetation has been pruned back, it can make it easier for installers to access the area.

Beat the spring rush

“Peak times” (pun intended) for fencing companies like ours is in the spring. People are rushing to get fences installed before full-on backyard party and grilling season starts. Many times, you will get access to the best installers with the shortest amount of wait time during the winter. Materials also are typically in full supply so there are no delays due to material shortages.

Winter means fewer activities

I don’t know about you but springtime is our family’s busiest time of year. Youth sports are in full swing, birthday parties, days at the lake, and springtime outings seem to fill the calendar. Winter can be a much slower time and thus, a great time for projects like fence replacement or gutter installation.
