Let A Commercial Roofing Company Take Care of Ice Dams

Categories: Commercial Roofing

Commercial RoofingAn Indianapolis news report recently documented the hidden dangers of ice dams on the roofs of homes, especially the dangers posed to homeowners who were attempting to take care of the dams themselves. The news report expanded on the issue by reporting that homes that have ice dams could very well eventually have leaks in their walls. If you’re ever in need of residential or commercial roofing services, look no further than Peak Roofing & Construction.

Self-Service

According to the news report, Indianapolis residents were incessantly calling local roofing companies to request that they remove the ice dams. The danger in breaking up the ice on your own rather than allowing a professional residential or commercial roofing company to take care of it for you is that you might accidentally cause damage to your roof’s shingles or gutters.

Roofing companies that were interviewed for the new report said that it is best that homeowners make sure that their attic is well-insulated so that the temperature in the attic and the outside temperature are the same. Any excess heat that reaches the roof can melt snow before the winter cold comes along and refreezes it, which causes an ice dam.

Ice Insurance

The news report also reported that any warranties homeowners have with roofing companies don’t include ice dam damage. Homeowners might want to think about getting heat cables and spreading salt in their gutters.

We’re lucky in North Texas that we don’t have to deal with ice dams that often, but there are times where they may be a concern. If this should ever be a problem in your area, make Peak Roofing & Construction the first you call if you’re in need of quality Frisco roofers or commercial roofing services.
