Is Your Roofer Certified? Should They Be?

So how do you know if the person on your roof looking for the source of a leak knows what they’re doing? Cross your fingers and hope? Not the approach I recommend, and not necessary if your roofing company is Peak Roofing & Construction.

What is “HAAG Certified”

HAAG certification means the roofing professional has completed courses and testing to learn, and then demonstrate their understanding of how to inspect and identify damage on residential and/or commercial roofs. The courses, designed by practicing forensic engineers, cover all major residential (steep-slope) roofs and commercial roofing materials as well. Some of the things covered include:

  • How hail and wind interact with roofing
  • Inspection safety techniques
  • Installation, weathering, hail/wind damage, and mechanical damage
  • Best approaches to determine repair costs

HAAG certification demonstrates that a roofing professional has gone far beyond normal standards of industry training and then taken the extra step of becoming certified. In short, it’s reassurance to homeowners and commercial business owners that the person doing the inspection truly knows what they’re doing.

The intense training and evaluation our team goes through gives us the knowledge and techniques needed to efficiently inspect and assess roof damage. It’s nationally recognized and holds a lot of weight with insurance companies when we’re asked to determine the cause of roof damage. In short, not only do our clients have the best possible people identifying damage but also the reassurance that it’s being done correctly.
