Christmas in New York City

Merry Christmas from the Riss Family of Peak Roofing and Construction, Your DFW RoofersThe Dream

Every Christmas is special and, so far, this year tops the list. We opted for a family trip to New York City. Growing up, I watched the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center on television and thought is was magical. So, when Jeff and I started talking about taking the family to experience New York City firsthand, how could we resist going at Christmas? If you haven’t been to New York at Christmas, this post is for you. If you have been there, hopefully it will bring back some fond memories. (I promise this is not sponsored or endorsed by the New York Tourism Bureau. Ha!)

The Reality

The magic started the moment we reached our hotel and didn’t stop until the plane landed back at DFW airport. We had the joy of traveling with our son, which made it even more special. First stop…the Christmas Tree, of course. What would normally be on my TV screen just came to life. Seeing it in person was an entirely new experience. The enormity and beauty made us stop and stare. However, I must admit, I couldn’t help but think about how thankful I was that my job isn’t checking all the lights.

Another highlight was the seeing the Rockettes. Jeff was not initially excited about this one. In fact, I had to buy the tickets without telling him (the old ask forgiveness, not permission approach). But the Rockettes didn’t let me down. When they came out as drummer boys, I caught Jeff recording it. Score! From the grandparents down to our son, everyone was impressed.

I also HAVE to mention the food. Although we had amazing meals of all types, breakfast at the Brooklyn Diner was our favorite. Our big admission, which I know most of you won’t believe: We did not partake of the “street cuisine”. That’s right. Not a single hot dog or pretzel. We need something to save for next time, right?

Merry Christmas to everyone, and we hope you experience the Joy of Christmas or holiday your family celebrates. The Peak Roofing & Construction team will be spending time with our families and taking time to recharge. We’re excited about the year to come and look forward to serving our customers all around Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Lewisville and the rest of North Texas in 2019!
